Our Mission Statement

Our aim is to promote responsible pet ownership and to continue operating our neutering policy.  In due course this policy is intending to reduce the stray and unwanted cat population in and around Maidenhead.

Feral cats are caught, neutered and either returned to where they were found or in some cases relocated to a more suitable site where they are fed and monitored by a local volunteer. If we are able to handle the feral kittens before they are twelve weeks old then they stand a good chance of becoming domesticated and therefore suitable for a home environment. When contacted by the public regarding stray cats or kittens, we house the adult cats in a local cattery and the kittens go to foster homes, all efforts are made to advertise for the owners of these animals. Cats are held for seven days and those unclaimed are then vaccinated and neutered ready for adoption.

C.L.A.W.S. operates a non-destruction policy unless advised by our Vet to the contrary. It is also our policy to home check prospective owners before any placement of cats. We follow up six weeks after rehoming with a call or a visit and we are always at the end of the phone should new owners need help or advice.

"People For Pets" is our scheme whereby we home elderly cats with our senior citizens.  They pay for the yearly injections and food and CLAWS pays 50% towards major veterinary bills.  This way an elderly cat finds a loving second chance and a senior citizen more purpose in life.  This scheme is proving very popular.
