Coming home from work one day, I was surprised to see a weeks-old kitten with a death wish being completely ignored. Nobody stopped. Nobody cared? They had to take action to avoid him before coninuing with much more important things.
Here in the countryside of Japan stray cats are looked upon with some ignorance. So, I stopped and actioned my thoughts. He was so weak that he didn`t fight me. He couldn`t.
The video above is after lots of rest and medication as the first couple of weeks he looked awful and wasn`t fit for public consumption. We often got up in the morning not knowing what to find.
We were lucky to rehome him as the shelter we found 100 kms away had hundreds of cats. The work that the volunteers do is incredible. The reason he was picked within 30 minutes of viewing was.. かわい (kawai - cute) Not bad for a throw away cat, eh?
I was told by someone here that by picking him up I was "interfering with nature and it was his destiny to die."
Well, no it wasn`t was it!
The latest report is that he is adapting well to his new life.
